Q: How does Sunbabe Hair Lightener work?
Sunbabe uses a combination of naturally occurring lightening agents to gradually lift pigment from hair to achieve a lighter shade.
Q: How long does it take for the product to work?
In the sun or after blow drying for a few minutes, you will see noticeable results in 2-3 hours! Full effects visible the next day.
Q: How long should I be in the sun or blow dry?
We recommend about 30 minutes in and out of the sun (with SPF on of course!) or blow dry on low heat for 3-4 minutes.
Q: How long should I leave the product in my hair?
We recommend leaving the product in for at least 2-3 hours to give the product a chance to lighten! Sunbabes at HQ leave it in overnight for optimal results.
Q: How often can I use Sunbabe?
You can use it daily if you like, but we recommend waiting until the next day to apply again because the full results of one use may take several hours to develop and appear.
Q: I do not want to use heat. Will Sunbabe still work for me?
Yes, Sunbabe will work subtly on its own without heat.
Q: Does it work on dark hair?
Yes, Sunbabe works on all hair colours! On dark hair, our product reveals lighter, caramel blonde tones.
Q: What if I dyed my hair black or dark brown? Will it work for me?
Yes, Sunbabe will lift the pigment of the dye to achieve a lighter shade.
Q: Does it work on bleached hair?
Yes it does, it will lighten your current hair colour 2-3 shades.
We do not recommend using Sunbabe on hair that is already bleached platinum or has very little pigment left to lighten.
Q: Can I apply Sunbabe to my roots?
Yes, Sunbabe can be strategically applied where desired and blends easily with hair that's been previously lightened.
Q: Do I apply to wet or dry hair?
We recommend applying to dry or damp hair.
Q: Can I use a hair straightener or curler with this product?
We recommend opting for an indirect source of heat instead, but if you choose to use a straightener or curler, just be sure that it’s set to low heat and that your hair has fully dried first.
Q: Can I use Sunbabe on hair extensions?
Yes, Sunbabe works on extensions made of real hair.
Q: Can I apply Sunbabe to my eyebrows and/or body hair?
No, we do not recommend applying to your eyebrows or body hair, as the product is not intended to be applied near the eyes or remain on the skin.
Q: Can I dye or bleach my hair after using Sunbabe?
Yes. Because ingredients will differ depending on the method of hair processing or dying, we recommend waiting 4 weeks in-between and giving your hair stylist a heads up so that they may use a compatible hair processing method. Q: Will it make my hair orange or brassy?
In general, brassiness occurs when eumelanin (reddish pigment) present in some hair types becomes exposed during the lightening process. Our formula includes violet pigment to help counteract this. If you feel that your hair needs additional toning, you can follow up with a purple shampoo or toner.
Q: Will it damage my hair?
No. Sunbabe is a gentle product and is formulated to lighten hair gradually, unlike conventional bleaching products. We are free of many chemicals commonly found in other methods of lightening hair including alcohol, parabens, sulphates, phthalates, metallic salts, aluminum, and ammonia. Our hair lightener is safe for all hair types and lightens hair gradually.
We kindly recommend using common sense before applying our product. If your hair has been severely damaged or is chemically compromised/brittle from prior bleaching sessions, we do not recommend using Sunbabe.
Q: Does this product have bleach in it?
When referring to hair bleach, folks are often thinking of conventional bleaches containing ammonium persulfate, which we do not include. Our formula is made with a combination of naturally occurring lightening agents that lighten hair gradually over a few uses. Although these ingredients are naturally occurring, they are technically considered bleaching agents because of their lightening effect.
We also omit chemicals commonly found in other hair lightening methods, such as accelerators and ammonia. Additionally, we are free of alcohol, parabens, sulfates, phthalates, and animal products.
Q: Are the results permanent?
Yes. Whenever you lighten hair, results are permanent because pigment is lifted from strands to create a lighter shade. Sunbabe lightens gradually over a few uses, so results are in your control!
Q: Can I use Sunbabe while pregnant?
Because Sunbabe has not been explicitly tested on pregnant women, we recommend running the ingredients by your physician, as we understand healthcare is highly personal.

Q: Will Sunbabe turn hair green or react with chlorine/pool water?
No, Sunbabe Hair Lightener will not react with chlorine or salt pool water. Generally, pool water with high levels of copper is what can potentially cause blonde hair to take on a green tinge. So it’s more about the pool water you’re swimming in. If you’ve swum in the pool before and have experienced no effect on your hair, you’re good to go!
Q: How may I cancel an order?
Placed an order before you’re ready? We’re happy to help! Email us within 30 minutes of placing your order so that we may accommodate your cancelation.
Q: How may I change the shipping address?
We will do our best to accommodate shipping address changes prior to fulfillment. Please email us as soon as possible with the alternate address to request the change.
If the address provided on the order is not correct and the parcel has been shipped, please reach out to the local delivery service provider directly (eg. USPS, Australia Post, Canada Post, Hermes UK) via the tracking link in the shipping confirmation. For international orders, this link is available within the DHL tracking link. The delivery service provider can arrange for the parcel to be held at the post office closest to you for pick up at your convenience.
For international orders placed to addresses outside of the US or Canada, please use the second tracking number (provided by the local delivery service provider) located in the details of the DHL tracking link for your order.
Q: Does Sunbabe accept returns or provide refunds?
We have a no refund and no return policy as we are unable to accept returns due to health regulations. We do not provide refunds to compensate for delayed shipping. We kindly ask to please anticipate minor delays with shipping times due to COVID-19.
Q: If I do not like my results, will Sunbabe give me a refund?
We understand that hair is highly personal. Because hair pigments are unique to each person, results are highly variable per individual and we are unable to provide refunds for this reason.
